Communities, Not Cages!

Uproar Utah is a grassroots network opposing the conversion of industrial warehouses to cage humans. After all, we are all dreamers, immigrants and humans.

The proposed ICE detention warehouse presents grave challenges to Utah’s community, including:

HUMAN COST

Risks to the health of our children and community by holding people in structures built for cargo.

RESOURCE DRAIN

Costs and resources to support a mega-camp impact residents. Our water, our future.

REPUTATIONAL DAMAGE

Caging humans doesn’t fit Utah’s family-friendly reputation. Let’s welcome the world to the 2034 Olympics and help visitors feel safe.

FINANCIAL WASTE

Cost per bed is higher than county jails–and impacts taxpayers.

"Our democratic republic is an ingenious combination of direct democracy operating within a republic. Citizens participate in local decision-making and elect representatives who address most issues within a constitutional framework that safeguards individual rights and places restrictions on governmental power."

Who are we?

Get to Know Uproar Utah

Uproar Utah is a bipartisan group of concerned citizens expressing our firm opposition to the conversion of industrial warehouses into high-capacity immigration detention facilities. We stand firmly for the due process guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the protection of families. Uproar Utah is a grassroots organization of professors, administrators, attorneys, medical professionals, and social justice advocates rallying a powerful, sustained opposition to ensure our immigration systems treat all people with dignity and respect.

Our Work

We work in four key ways.

Mobilizing Real-Time Action

We want to unite with other grassroots efforts like Salt Lake Indivisible, Utah Values Coalition, Utah Citizens’ Counsel, and multiple faith groups to create a sustained, powerful opposition to the building of a DHS Detention Center.

We want to be a secure digital headquarters to facilitate collective action, including press conferences and social media mobilizations to challenge the installment of an immigration detention center within the Utah Inland Port.

Building a Strategic Coalition

Providing Transparent Information

We will share the latest updates on the Salt Lake ICE concentration camp with the public, reporters, healthcare professionals, and legal advocates to ensure our community understands the logistical and moral implications of this facility.

Prioritizing Security

and Privacy

We will maintain the highest standards of user anonymity and data security to protect activists
and neighbors, providing a vetted environment where individuals can influence policy change
without compromising their safety.

Our
Values

Our work is grounded in our values.

Evidence-Driven Integrity

We prioritize research and data to share accurate information and operate with transparency and care in everything we communicate.

Intersectionality & Action

We confront systemic oppression across all identities and actively challenge the unjust laws and those who are criminalizing immigrants.

Rooted in Community

We honor Utah’s enduring legacy of family and faith, championing the neighborly values that make our state a strong, supportive home for everyone.

Our Shared Humanity

Across every culture and belief system runs a foundational truth: we must treat others as we wish to be treated. We believe we have a collective responsibility to protect the vulnerable, watch over the displaced, and extend a hand to those facing hardship.

Our Vision

We envision a Utah where every neighbor is safe, where our state’s commitment to family is extended to all people, and where our community stands united against the shadow of mass detention to ensure a future of dignity and belonging.
